DM uses some CM functions
DM needs the data from CM in order to provide an overall picture of the data.
CM needs DM as an outlet for its information.
Companies need both processes in order to be successful.

- DM involves deliverable data plus all accompanying data
- CM falls under the Bill of Materials Data, which is a subset to the Bill of Information

- There are successful tools on the market for CM
